About this Event
Ayurveda is literally the science of life and vitality. According to this wisdom tradition from India, each human being has his or her own unique mixture of the subtle elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. This combination of elements is your prakriti, or nature. Your vrikriti is the condition of these forces that is a product of your environment and living. When these two states are in conflict, we feel out of balance in ourselves and with the universe. Understanding more about our unique constitution and how to come into alignment physically, emotionally, and energetically can empower us to live a life based on purpose, joy, and ease. In this series of workshops, Sarah and Alan will teach you about the three main doshas, or mind/body types, known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each session will explore the qualities and superpowers associated with that particular dosha, and what it looks like when out of balance. Through asana, pranayama, meditation, diet, and self-care, we’ll explore the various tools that can bring us into harmony with the inner and outer world so that we can live a life filled with infinite possibilities.
Saturday, July 13th: Pitta – The Mind Body Type of Fire, Water, and Transformation Pitta is the mind body type, or dosha, that is comprised of fire and water. When in balance, Pitta types are intelligent, brave, and have strong leadership skills. When out of balance, they are prone to anger, narcissism, and acid reflux. This workshop will explore daily practices both on and off the mat to help pacify excess Pitta, leaving your nervous system soothed and your state of being relaxed and at ease.
Saturday, September 14th: Vata – The Mind Body Type of Air, Space, and Movement Vata is the mind body type, or dosha, that is comprised of air and space. When in balance, Vata types are creative, artistic, and movement oriented. When out of balance, they are prone to anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia. This workshop will explore daily practices both on and off the mat to help pacify excess Vata, leaving your nervous system calm and your state of being grounded and nourished.
Saturday, February 1st: Kapha – The Mind Body Type of Earth, Water, and Cohesion Kapha is the mind body type, or dosha, that is comprised of earth and water. When in balance, Kapha types are steady, loyal, and content with their circumstances. When out of balance, they are prone to depression, lethargy, and stagnation. This workshop will explore daily practices both on and off the mat to help pacify excess Kapha, leaving your nervous system invigorated and your state of being light and inspired.
