Group size - Roughly 3-4
Ridden or in-hand
Suitable for - Horses 4+ year old only (For any younger horses wishing to attend in-hand only, please contact me first)
This "Arena Hacking Adventure" session is designed to simulate the challenges of hacking within the safety of the arena. Horses will navigate a variety of obstacles, including water crossings, solid bridges (including sloped and narrow catwalk bridges), ditches, steps/banks, overgrown paths (cowboy curtains), moving ground (see saw or rolling bridge), and steep slopes. The aim is to build confidence between horse and rider, improve balance and control on different terrains, to prepare for hacking adventures.
While the water crossings, steps, ditches, and banks are key features of the obstacle course, this clinic takes a confidence-building, horsemanship-focused approach, rather than a show jumping or eventing style one. The goal is to build trust in a controlled environment. Rather than pushing for speed or intensity, it is kept at a calm, thoughtful pace, with anything faster than a walk being entirely optional and dependent on each horse's individual comfort level. Riders can choose paces during the session that works best for them and their horse, ensuring a positive experience.
Use of any of the showjumps/other jumps in the arena is prohibited.
It can be done in-hand, ridden or a bit of both.
£40pp
A body protector and medical armbands are strongly recommended for the Cross Country Course and all weather arenas and are compulsory for Pony Club members.
A current relevant riding hat must be worn for all sessions, in hand and ridden.
Places strictly on a first come first serve basis only and non refundable full payment prior required due to arena hire and limited places.
Please bring your own lunge/longer line for in hand and remember suitable waterproof footwear if you plan on getting horses in water in hand (but also suitable riding footwear if riding also - no wellies whilst mounted).
Horses must be up to date with annual vaccinations.
Times and groups will be emailed nearer the time once bookings are in, sessions will be between 10.30am-2.30pm.
If some sessions are smaller in numbers planned due to bookings, then they may be subject to being a slightly shorter duration if less people in the group.
Any ridden sessions will probably be taught mounted by myself and my own horse Bam to help with any confidence needed too.
