The Chicago-based rock and roll band’s shimmering guitar attack, earthy rhythms, and blistering horns have gained them a loyal following nationwide, recently leading to a major record deal with Sony/Arista. Their debut album, produced by Jake Sinclair, is set for release in 2025.
Formed in 2018, the camaraderie and musicality between the long-time group of friends is apparent the moment they take the stage. Led by the vocals and guitar of Axel Ellis, the six piece band also showcases Sal Defilippis on guitar, Hunter Olshefke on bass, Nick Deputy on drums, Phil Pistone on trumpet and Quinn Dolan on saxophone.
Even before signing their deal, Ax and The Hatchetmen made waves. Their debut headline tour sold out multiple 200-300 cap venues across the U.S. with only demos and live recordings available. They drew an impressive crowd for an early Thursday set at Lollapalooza and absolutely crushed a main stage slot at Shaky Knees!
Beyond music, Axel Ellis is making moves in the acting world with a featured role in the upcoming Amazon Prime series The Runarounds, produced by Outer Banks creator Jonas Pate.
With a breakout year ahead, Ax and The Hatchetmen are just getting started. And yes—they’re bringing the party with them! 🪓 🎉
