About this Event
Doors Open at 6pm; Dinner Served at 6:30pm
Welcome everyone to our March Meeting.
This month we will meet at the AIDT Maritime Center in Mobile. This will be a joint section meeting with the Mobile, Auburn-Opelika, Birmingham, and Pascagoula Sections. This will also be our Presidents Address and Awards Night. We will be recognizing our CWIs of the Year, Educators of the Year and Section and District Meritorious recipients. I want to encourage all of you to attend and bring a guest. Come out and enjoy some good food and fellowship with other AWS and industry members.
Our speaker for the night will be none other than our AWS President, Mr. Michael Krupnicki. Mr. Krupnicki has been involved in AWS for close to 40 years and is an AWS Life Member. He is of Polish descent and has been married for 38 years and has two children. Mr. Krupnicki was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He is founder and owner of the Rochester Arc & Flame Center, a private welding, smithing, and glass arts school. He was previously involved with Mahany Welding Supply for 37 years. Mr. Krupnicki has been a member of the AWS Foundation Grants Committee, Districts Council, Communications Council, and Standards Council. In 2015, he became a member of the AWS board of directors and was elected in 2018 to serve as vice president and currently holds the position of president. He also previously served as chair and treasurer of the Rochester Section and District 6 Director.
The meeting is open to the public. but they must sign up through Eventbrite. We want the public to see what AWS is about and strengthen our membership. There is limited space, so we encourage everyone to register as soon as possible. However, if you register and find that you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration via Eventbrite so that we can have an accurate count for catering. The meeting is free to all and dinner is provided by the section. We want to have enough for everyone to enjoy, but food cost is expensive and we do not want it to go to waste. Additionally, by keeping our cost down, we can continue to provide our meetings at no cost to you.
STUDENTS – Make sure you continue to attend the meetings. As we have done in the past, we will be offering special prizes at the end of the year (our May meeting), to the students who attended the most meetings. Also, students, we encourage you to sign up for an AWS membership. Student membership is now FREE! It costs you nothing to join, but everything to gain. Please encourage your peers and family members to attend this meeting.
Instructors – Please post this meeting notice in an area around your school that is easily accessible to your welding students and any student interested in a dynamic career as a design engineer. We are now utilizing Eventbrite for registration so students will need to start registering themselves to attend. You are more than welcome to forward them this meeting notice, but even easier simply print it out and they can scan the above QR Code with their phone to link to our Eventbrite registration page. Also, they can find our Eventbrite registration page via our AWS Mobile Section Eventbrite Organization page, our AWS Mobile Section website, or our Facebook page.
Please remember to connect with us via Facebook! Find us by searching “American Welding Society Mobile Section” or at www.facebook.com/AwsMobileSection. Here you can always find the latest updates on our meetings, events, or reach out to fellow friends and colleagues.
