About this Event
Please join the local Santa Barbara/ Ventura AWHONN Chapter for our winter chapter meeting. There will be dinner and talk by Virginia Perry, MA. 1 CE will be provided for those who attend the entire lecture and complete an evaluation. Dinner will be catered from Luna Grill; including a variety of kebabs, salads, rice, and pita. We’ll create some holiday spirit with a gift basket give-away and warm apple cider. The meeting will be held in one of the classrooms at the American Red Cross building, 2707 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93105.
Our speaker, Virginia Perry (Bobro) has been in the perinatal field for 30 years. She has been a childbirth educator, IBCLC, and continuing education provider for nurses, midwives, and doulas. She now works as a clinical counselor and art therapist in private practice in Santa Barbara. Virginia’s presentation will explore the foundations of a trauma-informed model of care, and how implementing it can reduce negative impacts on the birthing patient, their family, and members of the care team. This talk will help participants identify specific ways to better care for themselves and their patients in the birth room to decrease the risk of trauma and improve health outcomes.
A virtual option for this meeting is available at a discounted price. Also, a special Nursing Student virtual price will offered. The virtual option will include the business meeting and lecture only (no dinner or raffle). Those who sign up for the in-person event will also get a link to the zoom meeting. But no refund will be provided for those in-person registrants who utilize the zoom option instead.
