About this Event
AWAY HOME is a musical in development written by local NC theater-makers, Tamara Kissane and Matthew Hager.
As part of the development process, participants will contribute to the growth of this piece by rehearsing the current draft of the script, hashing out new edits, and contributing their ideas and reactions. If you've ever been curious about 'how the sausage is made' during the creation of original art, then this is for you.
There will be some table work as well as working on your feet. We are looking for singers who are willing to move, and movers who are willing to sign.
Please bring paper and pencil, wear clothing to move in, and read Act One of the Away Home script in advance.
When Daisy loses her beloved toy, a writer composes fictional letters of the doll's adventures. Through music, sweet imaginings, and rollicking escapades, AWAY HOME encourages us to heal our broken hearts and transform.
Tamara Kissane is a theatre-maker based in Pittsboro, NC. Her plays and monologues have been presented throughout the Triangle and Triad of NC. With composer Matthew Hager, Tamara was commissioned by Honest Pint Theatre to write the musical AWAY HOME. Tamara’s play NICE WHITE PARENTS 2016 was the winner of the 2023 New Play Project and Mark Gilbert Award, and featured in the first annual NC Playwrights Lab 2021. Through her podcast and production studio, Artist Soapbox, Tamara has produced, written, and directed a variety of audio dramas from anthologies to full-length series.
