The Haywood Room will be open from 6pm where people can grab some refreshments and view this years shortlisted (and other selected) entries. The awards ceremony will commence at approximately 6.30pm.

-- The Channel Islands LGBTQ+ Writing Competition 2024 officially closed on Sunday 14 April! --
As a celebration of queer expression, the competition serves to inform the public about LBGTQ+ challenges and triumphs of the past, present and future, while showcasing the incredible talent of the Channel Islands. It launched for LGBTQ+ History Month in February.
Winners will be announced in May. Prizes of £100 Amazon vouchers will be awarded to the winner of each category ('Under 18s' and '18 and Over'), and the Pippa McCathie memorial trophy will be awarded for a second year.
💬 Liberate CEO Ellie Jones said: “The annual LGBTQ+ writing competition grows each year and it’s wonderful to hear people's stories. They are so often a reflection of people's experiences which can be both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The entries, which are displayed on the awards night, are a great way for people to get an insight into the lived experience of LGBTQ+ people.”
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
✒️ Entries must be 1,000 words or under with an LGBTQ+ theme. This can be fiction or non-fiction and in any written literary form.
🌈 You do not have to be LGBTQ+ yourself to participate.
1️⃣ Entries are limited to one entry per person.
🏝️ Entrants must be from the Channel Islands (i.e. born in, currently live in, or have lived in Alderney, Guernsey, Herm, Jersey or Sark).
🚸 Entries must be submitted into an age category: ‘Under 18s’ or ‘18 and Over.’
💸 Each category winner will receive a prize of a £100 Amazon voucher.
📅 The closing date is Sunday 14 April. Entries will be judged by an independent panel. Winners will be announced in May.
🏆 Awards will be presented in-person on Thursday 30th May at Guille-Alles Library in the Dorey Room, or digitally where necessary.
🤐 Adult language is permitted provided it isn’t too explicit. Explicit material may be redacted if published. Liberate reserves the right to decline any entry deemed inappropriate.
👤 Personal details will be kept entirely anonymous upon request. Selected entries will be published by Liberate unless the entrant has opted out.
👥 Entries must maintain full confidentiality (i.e. please change/omit names or recognisable pseudonyms including your own, exclude identifiable personal or sensitive information).
