Award-Winning Defensive Driving Course.

We are running our Award-Winning Defensive Driving Course for P plate and fully licensed drivers at Sutton Rd training ground. This one-day course is perfect for learning about any new technology your car has and explaining how and when to use it in a controlled environment. Technology is evolving quickly, so even if you have taken this course before but have purchased a new car, we highly recommend bringing your new vehicle out on the course because your new car may react differently to your previous car. Bookings can be made individually or in groups. The practical part of the course is conducted in your own vehicle. That way, you can maximize the opportunities to learn skills and take them away with you. You also learn how you and your car can work together in different driving situations.
Cost and Payment
The course costs $390.00, including GST. It includes morning and afternoon tea and a catered lunch.
Payment is to be
made before the commencement of the course by EFTPOS, money order or bank transfer (for bank transfer, when you contact us, we will provide you with our bank details).
Email [email protected] or ring 0417481135 to reserve your spot on the course.
Benefits To Your Insurance

The Course Location
The course is held at the Sutton Road Driver Training Complex, which is located 1km from the junction of Sutton Road and Piallago Avenue on Sutton Road.
The Course Schedule
The course starts at 9:00 a.m. and finishes at approximately 4:00 p.m. Short breaks for morning and afternoon tea and a lunch break of about 45 minutes are provided.
The Theory Component:
This component introduces the principles of defensive driving, during which the students are encouraged to debate the problems they face on the road. We next examine the most common accident situations, what causes them and how they can be avoided. We like to involve the students by considering some of their recent experiences to see if valuable lessons can be learnt. The students are then introduced to a system of vehicle control that provides the basis for good, safe driving. With technology evolving every so quickly, we explain systems such as ESP and ABS and how they work before you can see and feel them in the practical component of the course.
The Practical Component
This component is taught in your own car and consists of three parts.
Part 1 is taught on the skid pan. In a safe and controlled environment, the students learn about new technology in their car and explain how and when to use it and what to do when their vehicle gets into a slide.
Part 2 consists of three items taught on the circuit:
Stopping distances: first from speeds of 60km/h and then from those of 80 km/h.
Emergency braking: an essential skill to master. (Students are often surprised to discover their lack of skill when confronted with emergency braking situations!)
Cornering: We first teach the use of cornering procedures that minimize vehicle wear and tear. We then demonstrate correct braking and gear selection before cornering, saving tyre wear and improving fuel economy.
In Part 3, the students rehearse the skills they acquired during the day.
All students are given a certificate upon completion of the course.
Outcome
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
Identify and experience how a vehicle behaves on different road surfaces.
How to brake safely and quickly to avoid hazards.
Learn "best practice" steering, cornering, and braking methods.
