Artist Statement

"My artwork comes from a sense of awe and wonder as I explore the beauty around me. I lift up the Bumblebee, the Elegant Trogon, the Pronghorn, and the Song Sparrow as creatures of sacred worth, deserving of our care and entitled to their place in the natural order of our world. I see them as beautiful in their own right and essential to the whole.
Drawing or painting is a way for me to celebrate the beauty of the habitats and creatures around me and draw attention to the needs of our planet. Colored pencil is my primary medium, and it is ideal for the nature artist. There is not much I love more than traveling down a trail or simply sitting on a lichen-covered rock surrounded by birdsong. Through my work, I hope to inspire people to see the amazing diversity around them and to share the sense of wonder.
If we truly see, I believe we will love what we see, and it is human nature to protect what we love. It will take all of us, working together, to begin to heal the Earth."
