Awakening InterArts: we, the trees, the atmosphere
workshop with Diane Butler
in Point Reyes, California
Friday evening 17 June thru Sunday 19 June 2022
Art Human Nature gathering, Sun. 19 June 2022 afternoon
This 10-hour AWAKENING INTERARTS: WE, THE TREES, THE ATMOSPHERE workshop for dance/movement, theater, music and architecture/environmental design students and practitioners is inspired by two principles from biodiversity preservation. One is that trees and plants are the lungs of the world, which maintain the air that we and other living creatures breathe. Another is the part-to-whole connection of the ‘small world, micro-cosmos’ of the human body with the ‘large world, macro-cosmos’.
Diane will guide practice in outdoor sites based on daily life postures and solo movement improvisation to explore the diverse qualities of our physical roots, trunk and limbs. We will then create small group art constellations; transforming in relation to the pulse of life in the surrounding ecosystem as a dialogue of we, the trees, and the atmosphere.
