About this Event
‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together’
Hull’s Poverty Truth Commission is drawing to a close, but this is not the end. We would like to invite you to our awakening event, which marks the beginning of a new way of working. Together we are putting people at the centre of what we do in Hull.
Over the past two years, people with lived experience of struggling against poverty have been working creatively alongside decision-makers from civic and business life to develop shared solutions. Poverty Truth Commissions work by building relationships, meeting as human beings, and listening. Together, we have explored our local themes:
- Navigating services and systems – including attitudes, cultures and criteria
- Cost of living including working poverty (food, fuel, transport, essentials)
- Access to healthcare including mental health
Starting with a lunch together, this event will share the journey we have taken, how we have travelled, the places we have been and the places we still want to get to.
