Hugo’s presents Avi Salloway & friends for a luminous night of art-rock and global grooves. The band features Avi Salloway (Billy Wylder/Bombino), Rob Morse (Hadestown/Vorcza) and Ethan Snyder (Moon Hooch/Breathwork). Free show.Salloway is an acclaimed musician and activist and recently moved back to Vermont from Los Angeles. He grew up learning music from American folk legends, Pete and John Seeger, and from an early age, was exposed to the power of music to bring people together. Salloway is the bandleader for Billy Wylder, has co-written, produced, and recorded on 15 albums and performed over 1500 concerts across six continents. He also toured for many years in Bombino’s band, the Tuareg guitar hero from Niger. Highlight performances include Coachella, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. He has collaborated and performed with renowned artists including Jack Johnson, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Tinariwen, David Longstreth (Dirty Projectors), The Low Anthem, and Pete Seeger.
A native of Vermont, Morse spent years in New York studying bass with John Patitucci and honing his composition chops at City College. Since then he's been performing and recording with a ton of innovative artists and genre benders like Taylor Haskins, Michael Chorney, the Barr Brothers and many more. Morse released his debut recording as a bandleader with his large ensemble Sound of Mind project in 2018. A founding member of Anais Mitchell's Hadestown Orchestra, Morse still holds the bass chair for the Tony-winning musical.
Ethan Snyder grew up in Vermont and has been playing drums since age two, collaborating with artists like Moon Hooch, Warbly Jets, and Wendel Patrick across the US, China, and Europe. Now based in LA, he’s focused on production, bringing a sharp ear to numerous projects. As a member of EVNGwear and Breathwork, his dynamic, improvisational style is a cornerstone of his sound.
