About this Event
The autumnal equinox is a time for reflection, balance and harmony; one of 2 moments during year where day and night are of equal length. This is a perfect time to experience and learn about the practice of forest bathing. This practice will allow you the opportunity to re-establish a connection to the natural world; reminding us that we are not separate from nature.
This one-hour Introduction to Nature & Forest Therapy Walk will be a condensed version of the longer 2 or 3 hour guided forest therapy walks. The walk will provide a taste of the healing and wellness benefits of forest bathing. We will move slowly and cover a short distance, connecting to nature with an open heart and with our senses through a series of guided, sensory invitations.
Research has shown that 'bathing in the environment of the forest' has many positive health benefits. The process of re-remembering and re-knowing our bodily connection to nature can lead to reduced stress, a decrease in blood pressure, a reduction in anxiety & depression and an increased feeling of comfort and calm.
Dress for the weather and wear comfortable clothing and shoes. The walk be held entirely outdoors. Meet at the Irving Park Rd side of the park at the natural area entrance to the across from ball field #9.
