THE EYE OF THE STORM
This presentation will deal with some aspects of our response, as teachers, to Covid. We will discuss some of the effects it may have had on our teaching.
Perhaps not all of our discoveries of those many months, while adjusting to virtual lessons, were all negative ones.
Perhaps our need to adapt led us to focus more on ensuring our students have a strong base of fundamental skills to support their work as pianists and artists.
Perhaps you found yourself questioning whether your students were really listening to themselves as they practiced. Are they active or passive listeners? Do they posess the tools needed to be independent and self-directed musicians?
Perhaps, despite all of the frustrations and challenges we faced, we can find some things to take away and use to make our student's skill sets stronger.
At the very least, Covid led us to face some difficult situations. We can feel proud of our ability during that time to continue to give our students the best of what we have to share.
