This is the second round of the 3-round Autumn Trophy before a winter break. The round dates are 13th October, 10th November and 24th November (after the September meeting was rained off).Riders can ride in as many, or as few, meetings as they like but all three rounds will count towards the series. Please note that if riders do not complete three rounds, or the series doesn't end up having three rounds, then trophies will not be issued. If a round is cancelled because of the weather it is hoped it will be re-staged to ensure three rounds are completed.
CLASSES
There are ten adult classes (Flat Track, Vintage Flat Track, MX/Dirt Bike, Vintage MX/Dirt Bike, Super Comp, Street Tracker, Inappropriates, Mini Bikes, Pit Bikes and Ladies) and two youth classes - Junior One (up to 50cc two-stroke and 110cc four-stroke) and Junior Two (up to 85cc two-stroke and 160cc four stroke). The Vintage MX/Dirt bike class will be on track with the MX class whilst other classes may be combined on track to ensure everyone has other riders to race.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Please note that no classes allow speedway/grass track bikes. There are separate meetings at Scunthorpe for those bikes.
Flat Track - specialised class for DTX (modified MX) bikes, framers and highly modified road bikes.
Inappropriate Road Bike - open to all bikes not designed to be raced on a dirt track (so no flat track, supermoto, enduro, MX, speedway, grasstrack) like mopeds, step-throughs, scooters, faired bikes, four cylinder bikes, factory customs, choppers, lowriders, and most ordinary road bikes in factory original trim
Junior One - for riders up to 16 years old (riding up 50cc two-stroke or 110cc four-stroke)
Junior Two - for riders up to 16 years old (riding up 85cc two-stroke or 160cc four-stroke)
Ladies - female riders only, all bikes welcome
Mini Bikes - for air-cooled four-stroke bikes up to 160cc. There are no wheel size limits but all engines must be upright. Not all bikes are necessarily 'mini bikes' but are welcome if they fit the aforementioned criteria.
Pit Bikes - for air-cooled four-stroke bikes up to 160cc. There are no wheel size limits but all engines must be laydown. Not all bikes are necessarily 'pit bikes' but are welcome if they fit the aforementioned criteria.
MX/Dirt Bike - for all MX and Enduro bikes with no lowered suspension and minimum 21" front wheel. Definitely no flat track or supermoto bikes.
Street Tracker - an intermediate class for road-based bikes with standard frames and front forks. It sits between between Super Comp and IRB and specifically includes Brit off-roaders and early trail bikes
Super Comp - a class for more highly modified bikes including super-motos, thunderbikes, late-model trail bikes, framers, more modified road bikes, and the oddball stuff that turns up occasionally and we don’t know where to place. It is not a second class for Pit Bikes or full-blown flat trackers.
Vintage Flat Track - a class for flat-track style, twin-shock bikes built before 1985 (or direct continuation models). All major components to have been available before 1985. Rotax four-valvers are excluded but they can race in Super Comp or Flat Track classes.
Vintage MX/Dirt Bike - for 'period' bikes that are air-cooled, twin shock and do not have drum brakes
Bikes which are deemed suitable, but which don't meet the exact class criteria, can be agreed to race by prior arrangement, but without scoring championship points or qualifying for trophies)
RESERVATIONS, COSTS AND PAYMENT DETAILS
No membership is required at Scunthorpe and meeting costs remain £42 for all adult classes and £32 for the youth classes.
Any rider who runs in more than one class will need to pay an additional £10 for the extra class.
We will take bookings (by payment) at any time and will take unpaid bookings after the date of the previous round. Bookings can be made for the next meeting in the series by contacting me (Richard Hollingsworth).
If you pay via Paypal ([email protected]) or bank transfer (account Richard Hollingsworth, sort 07-01-16, account 34001956) we'd like payments by 6pm the evening so we can record it whilst payments on the day really need to be cash.
You can also pay via Paypal and card by using our website here scunthorpe-speedway.com/bookingoffice although pop-up settings on phones sometimes prevents the payment page from opening.
PLEASE NOTE - due to the success of the last two meetings there is still a £5 DISCOUNT for those that book in by 2pm latest on MONDAY 4TH NOVEMBER.
PLEASE NOTE SIMPLY ADDING YOURSELF TO THE ATTENDEES LIST IS NOT ENOUGH.
It is also worth double-checking you are on the list of riders when they are published in the facebook group in the lead up to the meeting.
SIGNING-ON
This is 9.30-10.30am on race day. Gates will be open by 9am latest, Racing from 11am until around 3-4pm. Our food van will be open, and we will have a paramedic in attendance.
MEETING FORMAT
There will be five rides for each class. The first four races will be qualifiers. The grid positions are specified for those with five grid positions on each row (1-5 front row, 6-10 middle row & 11-15 back row with the lower numbers on the inside and the higher numbers on the outside).
There are class trophies for the first three in the finals but all five rides count towards the position in the class for the day and, in turn, Autumn Trophy series points.
Autumn Trophy series points will be scored in the following manner: 20 points for 1st, 19 for 2nd etc down to 1 point for 20th (although the larger classes may start at 30 (or even higher) if entry numbers justify it.
Any ties at the end of the series are decided on the results between the tied riders (for the meetings when both competed) and then on countback (how many round wins, then how many seconds etc.). Please also note that series trophies will not be awarded to anyone who hasn't ridden in all three meetings.
All amateur events for speedway and flat track (meetings, practices and training schools) are listed on the club's track calendar here http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?page_id=73 with AMSA and Wayne Carter sessions encouraging flat trackers to be involved.
