Do you enjoy singing? Have you ever entertained the idea of writing your own song? We are pleased to announce the Autumn Singing and Songwriting Workshop with Kari Sickenberger and Laurelyn Dossett at our home at 5310 Taproot Ln, Durham, NC 2705 on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024.
We are even more thrilled to say that after the workshop, we will then have a House Concert with Laurelyn, Kari, and Riley Bagus (aka Polecat Creek, y'all!)
In the workshops, we will sing some great songs with good harmonies, and for those who are interested, play with the idea of writing one of your own songs. All levels of singing and/or songwriting welcomed; there are no prerequisites except a love of songs. Not interested in songwriting? Great! You can just sing all day!
Here’s the Workshop Schedule:
9:30a: Doors open for workshop attendees (we will have coffee and snacks available all day, along with other beverage options)
10:00-12:30: Laurelyn and Kari singing workshop ~ Kari and Laurelyn teach 2-3 songs that we love and their harmony parts, weaving in discussion of songwriting craft.
12:30 - 1:30: Lunch
1:30 - 3:00: Singing with Kari and Songwriting with Laurelyn
3:00 - 4:00: Woodshedding/practicing while L & K walk around and answer questions, play guitar for folks, help with harmonies, lyrics, etc. If people just want to sing, that's great, too. If people want to take a walk or just take a break, that’s fine.
4:00 - 5:00: Sharing Circle/Participant Performances (with or without microphone)
Cost: $120 for workshop, includes lunch (and dinner for those staying for the concert)
For the concert, the doors open at 7p, and the music will go from 7:30-9p ($20 suggested tip for the concert; all tips go to the artists)
If you are interested in either or both of these, please sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/2024AutumnSing. Seats are limited (20 for the workshop; 50 for the concert), so sign up as soon as you can.
For the concert, we ask everyone to be vaccinated and we will monitor COVID levels and adhere to recommended guidelines for everyone’s safety.
