Autumn is a time of abundance and our foraging adventure is all about discovering the many ways in which the season can nourish us. Beyond mushrooms and berries we’ll explore the world of wild nuts and seeds that fall to the forest floor at this time of year.

Our experienced guid will lead the way sharing their extensive knowledge of the local flora and fungi we encounter.

You will learn how to identify edible mushrooms and the seasonal berries that adorn the hedgerows. We will discover much more than the tart and tangy sloes ideal for making gin and the sweet and succulent blackberries perfect for pies and jams. There is also an abundance of edible seeds—like beech nuts and acorns—that can be harvested and transformed into nourishing autumnal dishes.

We’ll guide you through the legal and ethical considerations of foraging ensuring that your impact on the environment is minimal. Understanding the laws surrounding foraging is essential—did you know that while it’s generally legal to pick wild plants for personal use in the UK there are restrictions on what where and how much you can gather? We’ll discuss the importance of foraging only what you need leaving enough behind for wildlife and future growth and the significance of avoiding protected species or areas.

A Secret Location Revealed

The exact location of our foraging expedition will remain a closely guarded secret until just a few days before the event. This is to enhance a chance of finding fungi. We will select the most promising location closer to the day and only email it to the events participants. We still can’t guarantee that we will find mushrooms. Nature has its own ways.
