Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of adventure and creativity, perfect for the whole family! We'll kick off the day as a group at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Hines Hill Campus with some delicious fall treats before breaking off to tackle an activity of your choosing.Available Adventures:
Volunteer Opportunity: Free
Join fellow Flashes by contributing your time removing invasive plant species to preserve the natural flora in the park. This adventure is limited to 50 people.
Hiking (Two Trails): $5 per person
Join Jennifer Daring, ’21, alumna and outdoor recreation specialist for the Cleveland Metroparks, for a low-impact walk along the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Or join Amanda Schuster, ’06, alumna and director of the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center, for a moderately strenuous hike to Brandywine Falls. These adventures are limited to 20 people per trail.
Printmaking Workshop: $10 per person
Create your own unique artwork to take home by collecting leaves and other natural materials in this hands-on workshop led by Kent State Associate Professor Taryn McMahon. This adventure is limited to 20 people.
Biking: $25 per person
Bring your own bike for a journey along the scenic Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail, with a pit stop at Peninsula’s Purplebrown Farm Store to enjoy some locally grown, organic foods. This adventure is limited to 20 people.
A portion of all paid activities supports Kent State’s Environmental Science and Design Research Initiative. Each adventure happens simultaneously, so participation in more than one is not an option. This event is recommended for those aged 10 and over. Space is limited. Purchase tickets by Friday, Oct. 4, or while supplies last.
