As young adults return home for the fall and winter holidays, AutoNation is inviting them, and their parents, to gear up for cold weather driving with free AutoNation Car Care Clinics. Led by technicians and safety experts, these hands-on sessions teach young drivers the skills to keep their vehicles safe and reliable all winter long. The program is part of AutoNation’s year-round commitment to educating the community about car care and driver safety through seasonal initiatives such as its recent back-to-school car care clinics.
A recent AutoNation survey revealed that 42% of parents of 15- to 22-year-olds said dashboard warning indicators were ignored for a week or more, and 10% said they went unaddressed for three months or longer. Nearly half expressed concern about the condition of critical components like brakes and tires. Factor in icy roads, bitter cold and poor visibility, and the need for winter driving safety is clear.
Complimentary AutoNation Car Care Clinics teach practical skills—from checking tire pressure and topping off fluids to jumpstarting a battery and handling roadside emergencies—while underscoring the importance of regular maintenance to promote safety and prevent costly repairs. Clinics also include driver safety education from local community partners on topics such as distracted and impaired driving, proper seating and seatbelt use, and what to do if pulled over or asked to perform a field sobriety test.
Winter weather doesn’t just impact safety and performance; it can also lead to extra wear and tear, resulting in costly repairs down the line.
