About this Event

The Lord Mayor of Dublin and Dublin City Council have committed to partner with AsIAm, Ireland's Autism Charity, to work towards recognition as the world's first Autism-Friendly Capital City.

This journey will involve the recruitment of "Autism-Friendly Champion" businesses, public services and voluntary organisations to improve accessibility in the city and also the creation of a 3 year plan for how Dublin can remove barriers for Autistic people having the same chance to live, work and play in our city. This plan will be drafted through direct engagement with Autistic people, family members and the wider community.

The Lord Mayor is hosting 4 consultations, as part of this process, which will provide YOU with an opportunity to have your say on what steps Dublin can take to bring about true inclusion for the at least 1 in 27 people in our community who are Autistic

When: First Session Thursday 22nd February 6.30pm to 8pm

Where: Oak room, The Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2

What will happen?

Engage in the conversation on creating an Autism-Friendly City by joining one of the four discussion topics on the day:

  1. Overarching goals for your town
  2. Build Landscape
  3. Public Awareness & Understanding
  4. Individual Sectors

Upon arrival, you will be asked to choose the topic of your interest, with the flexibility to explore others if time permits.

AsIAm will do a brief presentation of the objectives of the session, followed by an open discussion per topic; this will be guided by one our facilitators, ensuring all participants have an opportunity to share.

The session will end with key remarks from each topic.

A quiet space will be provided for those who may need it, ensuring everyone's participation and comfort in this important vision for our city.
