Join us for this special event featuring:
Dr. Temple Grandin, Sean Barron, and Brenda Smith Myles PhD
In her first session, 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐒𝐦𝐒𝐭𝐑 𝐌𝐲π₯𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐑𝐃, will describe a framework for teaching autistics in inclusive settings (CAPS). This comprehensive, yet easy-to-use system, allows educators to understand how and when to implement an instructional program for autistic students. In her 2nd session, Brenda will talk talk about the hidden curriculum, the set of rules or guidelines that no one is taught β€” but everyone knows. Everyone, that is except the autistic individuals (cf., Garrett, 1984; Kanpur, 1989). While this information may be intuitive for neurotypical individuals, it is not for those with autism or other special needs. This session also includes practical tips for teaching these hidden social needs to children and to adults and stresses the importance of making these a part of everyday life
𝐃𝐫. π“πžπ¦π©π₯𝐞 π†π«πšπ§ππ’π§, a world-renowned autism spokesperson, scientist, and inventor, has served as an inspiration and role model to hundreds of thousands of families and persons with autism. In this unique presentation, Temple eloquently and candidly describes the challenges she has faced and offers glimpses into her own childhood, with ideas on how others dealing with autism can meet these obstacles and improve the quality of their lives.
π’πžπšπ§ 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐧 emotions controlled his social behavior. Baffled by social rules, isolated and friendless, he made up his own social rules and applied them to others. When others inevitably broke his rules, he felt worthless and unloved but Sean ultimately came to terms with the social world and found his place in it. Whether you are a person with autism, a caregiver in the autism community, or just someone who’s interested in an outsider’s view of society, his powerful story will enthrall and enlighten you!

Discounts available for groups of 5+!
