Join fashion photographer Derek Henderson and authors and curators Jane Malthus and Claire Regnault to discuss the Eden Hore collection, the focus of their luxurious new book from Te Papa Press as well as the exhibition Eden in Dunedin, on display in the Material Culture Gallery from 2 April and presented in collaboration with Eden Hore Central Otago Trust.Central Otago Couture tells the compelling story of Eden Hore and his string of eccentric and memorable obsessions. At the centre of this was his collection of over 270 extraordinary high-fashion garments, a wide selection of which are captured in the book through the lens of acclaimed fashion photographer Derek Henderson and in the empty majesty of the Central Otago landscapes that Eden Hore so loved. The collection also honours and recognises the skills of New Zealand creatives and designers of the 1970s and 1980s at their very best, and represents a unique slice of couture fashion not found anywhere else in the country.
Hear the panel talk about what drew them to this story and elaborate on their favourite garments, images and locations from the book. Chaired by Te Papa Press publisher Michael Upchurch.
The book, discounted by 20%, will be available to purchase after the talk at the Toitū shop. The authors will also be available to sign copies.
