Join us when Kwame welcomes Alicia D. Williams and Jasmine Warga to Author Study on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 1:00pm ET / 10:00am PT.
This 45-minute virtual livestream session is a unique opportunity to engage with and learn from THREE beloved, award-winning authors!
To celebrate National Poetry Month, Kwame will read a selection from one of his novels in verse and speak with Alicia D and Jasmine about their writing processes, their favorite books, and all the details that make their work special. Kwame also will teach mini-craft lesson and answer students’ questions LIVE.
This National Poetry Month celebration is recommended for all ages and grade levels. This event will run 45 minutes (1:00-1:45pm ET / 10:00 - 10:45am PT) and will include an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter.

Each registration provides access through a unique URL and passcode as a single login to the virtual livestream, which can be used from one device for viewing in an individual library. The login cannot be used on multiple devices concurrently.

Jasmine Warga is the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of A Rover's Story, The Shape of Thunder, and Other Words for Home. Her books have won numerous awards, including a John Newbery Honor. Her next middle grade novel, A Strange Thing Happened in Cherry Hall, will be published on September 10th, 2024. She currently lives in the Chicago area with her family.
Alicia D. Williams is the award-winning author of Genesis Begins Again, which received the Newbery and Kirkus Prize honors, a William C. Morris finalist, and won the Coretta Scott King--John Steptoe Award for New Talent. Alicia D also debuted a picture book biography, Jump at the Sun: The True Life Tale of Unstoppable Storycatcher Zora Neale Hurston and followed up with Jane Addams Peace Award winning Shirley Chisholm Dared: The Story of the First Black Woman in Congress. Her latest picture book, The Talk, won both Coretta Scott King and Golden Kite Honors. Alicia now celebrates her new novel-in-verse, Mid-Air.
