Tamiami Trail: Miami Stories features 18 stories placed in Miami, but with relevance to anywhere/right now in the USA. Themes explored: male cruelty masquerading as "masculinity," women grasping for meaning in an increasingly transactional world, and the guns, drugs, and relentless forces of nature that complicate every move.
Bannan's first collection, INVENTING VICTOR (Kirkus starred review), was also published by Carnegie Mellon Press in 2003. Her work has appeared in the Kenyon Review online, ACM - Another Chicago Magazine, Exposition Review, Eclectica, Passages North, Chicago Quarterly Review and other literary magazines. She has had non-fiction published in The Millions, Los Angeles Review of Books, The Rumpus, The Washington Post, and more. A native of Miami, she lives in Pittsburgh but loves to visit Florida.
