Join us on November 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM for a special event hosted by the Asian Book Club – a meeting with Dian Purnomo, an Indonesian writer and researcher, and the author of the powerful novel “Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam.”

“Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam” is a deeply moving story about a young woman from the island of Sumba who is kidnapped and forced into marriage in the name of tradition. It’s a tale of pain, silence, and the struggle to reclaim one’s voice — of how an individual can stand up against a culture of violence and injustice.
During the meeting, we will discuss how literature can become a form of resistance against violence, taboos, and social silence.
👩‍💼 Who is Dian Purnomo?
Dian Purnomo is a writer and researcher whose work focuses on social issues, women’s rights, child protection, and environmental topics. Her fiction is inspired by research conducted in women’s and children’s prisons, as well as in rural areas of Java, Sumatra, and Eastern Indonesia, where she explored the issue of violence against women and children.
