Lisa M. Lucero is the author of five novels, including her latest Deadly Beats, which is a murder mystery thriller. She is a former journalist from McPherson who got her start working at the
McPherson Sentinel as a new reporter.
Lucero graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and attended Hutchinson Community College where she majored in Journalism. She has been a reporter at various newspapers in Kansas and Texas. She currently
resides in Newton, Iowa and is an administrative assistant in data and records at Grinnell College. Despite working full-time and being a mom, she manages to squeeze in time to write novels. Lucero is also the author of Night Shadow, The Death Firm, The Re-Creation of the Death Firm, and Waves Crashing.
About the book:
Deadly Beats was released on May 13, 2024. The story takes place in the busy streets of New York at a famous music club called The Groove. Aspiring singer Maia Morrison gets her big break as the club’s star singer, but her dreams become shattered when a bouquet of flowers containing a grim message strikes her with fear. Someone is threatening to K*ll her if she continues to sing.
She then gets caught up in a web of lies when she discovers the club’s owner Maximilian Rangel kept the murders of the previous singers a ghastly secret because he had initially believed the killer had been captured. But the pattern resumes.
