Zibby's Bookshop is excited to host Cara Natterson, Sonali Perera Bridges, and Melissa Berton for an intimate conversation about finding purpose (for yourself and your children) through service. We'll also be partnering with The Pad Project and Shero's Rise!
About the speakers:
Dr. Cara Natterson is a leading voice in puberty and adolescent health. A pediatrician, speaker, and the co-host of the This Is So Awkward podcast, she is the author of ten books including the bestselling This Is So Awkward: Modern Puberty Explained and the New York Times bestselling The Care and Keeping of You series. When her own kids started puberty, Cara founded Less Awkward, the first company aimed at making puberty less cringey and more comfortable with both product and content. Cara graduated from Harvard college and Johns Hopkins Medical School, trained at UCSF. She has two college aged kids and lives in Los Angeles.
Sonali Perera Bridges is an award-winning, visionary leader with nearly 30 years of transformative experience across diverse educational settings. A passionate mentor and steadfast advocate, particularly for young women, she is the driving force behind Shero’s Rise and the proud mother of two vibrant daughters.
Sonali holds a BA from Mount Saint Mary’s University and an MBA from The University of Redlands. As the Founder and President of Bridges Educational Consulting, she specializes in empowering students through college counseling, pioneering curriculum development, providing training to school districts, and advising higher education institutions on strategic enrollment management.
Throughout her career, Sonali has been deeply committed to helping young women realize their full potential. She co-founded the Women's Leadership Program at her alma mater, which later earned a place on President Barack Obama’s National Honor Roll. Her extensive leadership experience spans high-level roles and executive board positions, both locally and nationally, where she has championed equity and access to higher education for all.
Known for her unwavering integrity, authenticity, and commitment to truth, Sonali is a recognized force for change and a true “joyful warrior” in the pursuit of social justice and educational empowerment.

END OF SENTENCE., and named one of Forbes’s 50 Over 50 Dreamers & Doers: Women Making Social Impact, Melissa Berton is the Founder & Executive Director of The Pad Project. The Pad Project is a global non- profit dedicated to the principle that “a period should end a sentence, not a girl’s education.” She is a Los Angeles based teacher, writer, and speaker. In recognition of her human rights work and mobilization of youth advocacy to promote menstrual equity, Berton received the 2019 Eleanor Roosevelt Global Women’s Rights Award, and the 2023 Last Girl Award to end human trafficking.
