The Pros and Cons of Dying is a collection of poems that explores fears, beauty, intricacies, reflections, and absurdities of the inevitable. Max Bidasha weaves humor, whimsy, thoughtfulness, and love through what most would consider tragedy, loss, and sadness, constantly allowing the reader new opportunities to view death and dying through a refreshing, new lens. Part laugh out loud hilarious, part heartbreaking, The Pros and Cons of Dying will leave your heart and mind wide open, whether you are faced with your own life changing illness, have lost a loved one, or have ever questioned the meaning of life, contemplated where we go from here, or just wanted to have a closer relationship with the inevitable.
"The Pros and Cons of Dying is a beautiful treasure straight from a heart that is grappling with the heavy questions of mortality, life and love’s meaning. The poet intimately weaves a tapestry that bounces between heartache & humor in a way that has kept me thinking and remembering his prose well past my original reading. I've picked it up more than once to read and re-read particular poems, and shared with friends the wisdom found in the pages." - Pam Hlivka
"What an incredible journey. This book had me crying hard! But just when I thought I should put it down to take a few deep breaths I’m laughing just as hard. Max is a talented writer with a story everyone should hear! These poems will change your perspective on death and life. Do yourself a favor and grab a box of tissues and get this book!" - Lisa K
