About this Event
Join us on Saturday, August 30th from 4-5pm as we host author Ray Toy, who will be reading from and discussing their latest novel, Contemporary Loner. Signed copies of the book are available for purchase.
About the book:
During a winding succession of encounters with strangers and friends, a transphobic transgender experimental author descends through spiraling fractals of fantasy and ecstasy into existential madness.
Praise for Ray Toy's second novel, Love Rain:
"Bizarre encounters are customarily met with comical self-assurance and witty aphorisms . . . Always on the move, Ray Toy's playful characters inhabit a shapeshifting environment where dreams are never that far off from reality." -- George MacLeod, Tendon Magazine (Johns Hopkins University)
About the author:
Ray Toy is an experimental writer whose books have been distributed through independent bookstores, online platforms, and public libraries. These books reflect their comedic voice that first emerged in performances at London pubs and U.S. theaters. They have also produced video art. They hold degrees from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore and the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London, and have spoken at various colleges and institutions.
