About this Event
Join us on November 30th at 6pm for a reading of Beth Castrodale's novel, The Inhabitants. For the event, Beth will draw on her own experience and the works of such authors as Shirley Jackson, Elizabeth Brundage, Anne Rivers Siddons, and Peter Straub to discuss some key moves writers make to create truly chilling horror tales.
Beth is a fiction writer, essayist, and editor of the book-review website Small Press Picks. Her most recent novel, The Inhabitants, won the Horror category of the 2024 Best Book Awards, sponsored by American Book Fest.
An excerpt from her second novel, In This Ground, was a shortlist finalist for a William Faulkner – William Wisdom Creative Writing Award. Her début novel, Marion Hatley, was a finalist for a Nilsen Prize for a First Novel from Southeast Missouri State University Press. Castrodale also received an artist grant from the Mass Cultural Council. Her stories and essays have appeared in multiple publications, including CrimeReads, Ars Medica, and Writing and Wellness.
Come learn how writers craft horror stories.
