Jayanto’s story, told in essays, art, and photography, is revealed through memory and movement, resilience to transformation and from personal growth to self-understanding.
Jayanto is a Gadigal and Wangal-based visual artist originally from North Sumatra, Indonesia. Blending mythologies, personal narratives, and cultural traditions to create works that speak to themes of identity, queer perspective, hierarchy, colonialism, and belonging. His practice includes ceramics, installation, and performance, often exploring his experience as a ‘minority in minority’ immigrant artist.
