About this event
Authentic Movement is a transformative Body-Centered practice rooted in Jungian Depth Psychology and Dance/Movement Therapy. In this small-group 5 week series you will experience the transformative power of this creative embodiment practice as well as explore working with plant allies and limpias (energetic clearing) designed to deepen your process.
In this series we will be exploring the 5 phases of energetic movement and change, as described by the 5 Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, through contemplation and embodied movement.
WEEK 1: Intro to Authentic Movement + Earth Element >> Centering in our Personal Mandala and Grounding into Support and Nourishment
WEEK 2: METAL Element >> Letting Go of Old Grief and Refining our Inner Structure
WEEK 3: WATER Element >> Surrendering to the Flow of Mystery and Facing into Fear
WEEK 4: WOOD Element >> Alchemizing Friction and Frustration into Creative Purposeful Action
WEEK 5: FIRE Element >> Fully Embodying our Inner Radiance in Service to the Collective
In this course you will:
- Learn about the history and form of Authentic Movement as a practice of embodied exploration and profound healing (all levels of experience welcome),
- Learn energetic, meditative, and shamanic practices for connecting with the gifts and dynamic energetic qualities of the 5 Elemental phases of change as described in Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Utilize conscious movement, witnessing, energy work, and art-making to explore the themes of healing and growth that are alive for you during this time.
- Experience been truly seen in your embodied truth.
- Identify and shift the emotional, psychological, and somatic barriers that prevent you from connecting deeply with yourself, others, and the Divine.
EveryBODY is welcome! No previous experience required. This mini-series is open to adults (18+) of any identity and level of experience.
Structure: Each 2 hour session will include reflections on the week's topic, embodied experiential exercises (solo, in dyads, or with the whole group), a traditional Authentic Movement session with transition time for journaling/art-making followed by Witnessing, and an exploration of plant allies who can support us in deepening the process.
The series is meant to be taken in order and within the container of a closed group.
