For our second O-Week trip to kickstart Semester 2, AUT Offgrid presents: Waitawa Regional Park!
We will be embarking on the Puweto Loop Track. It is 8.9km long and will take approximately 2.5 hours to complete. The track is moderately challenging, but don’t let that discourage you; the views will definitely make up for it! We will mostly be walking on a track, though some parts can be muddy, so shoes with good tread are highly recommended. Once we are done with the walk, we will be hanging out at Mataitai Bay, so feel free to bring along a ball or some games to play, or even some togs if you wanna go for a dip!
Please Note: We will be having a shared lunch, so please bring along something to share :)
Trip Cost: $9 (Gas Money - Carpooling)
Meeting Point: AUT City Campus
Game plan for the Day:
9:00am= Meet at AUT City Campus
9:15am= Leave for Waitawa Regional Park
10:15am= Meet at Waitawa Regional Park (Hauraki Car Park)
10:30am= Begin the Puweto Loop Track
12:00pm= Stop for a lunch break (Shared Lunch)
12:45pm= Continue Walking
1:45pm= Meet back at Hauraki Car Park
2:00pm= Hang out at the Beach (Mataitai Bay)
3:30-4:00pm= Leave Waitawa Regional Park
5:00pm (ideally at the latest)= Arrive back on AUT City Campus
Gear list:
Comfortable footwear suitable for walking/running/tramping (tramping shoes recommended)
Day bag
Waterproof Rain Jacket (Auckland weather can be unpredictable!)
Lunch and Snacks for the Shared Lunch
At least two litres of water
A warm layer
Personal First Aid kit
Any personal extras such as sunscreen/medication/inhalers/epipens
Spare rubbish bags for litter (yes, we will be taking all of our litter with us)
Togs and Towel (optional)
