Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few weeks, you will have seen that I recently took an inspiring trip to Austria with our importer friends Les Caves de Pyrene. It was epic. We hopped our way through three different regions in three days, visiting five different vignerons, all who grow their own grapes, tend to their own land and make their own wine with minimal intervention but maximum effort. What does that mean then? Well, they are growing things organically, with biodynamic principles, little or no chemicals in the vineyard or winery, wild yeast fermentations and no adjustments. Planting cross coverings to promote biodiversity, utilising wildlife and animals to keep pests at bay and fertilise the soil etc etc—real wine if you will, and all the things we love.
We visited Burgunland, Styria and Kamptal, and met some beautiful people living enviable lives. This tasting is a celebration of some of our favourite wines that we tasted on the trip—wines from the likes of Andert Wein, Judith Beck, Andreas Tscheppe, AWM (Austrian Wine Mafia) and Martin & Anna Arndorfer.
This tasting will be hosted by myself and Bryanna–our good friend and account manager for Les Caves des Pyrene (iconic, 'real' wine importer). She's from Oregon, has lived and worked all over the world but has chosen Saltdean to settle in (lucky us) and is possibly one of nicest people we know.
