After five slam heats it is time to crown our state winner. Ten talented poets will perform new work for the final. Both 1st and 2nd placed competitors in this event will go through to the national finals of the Australian Poetry Slam.Contestants have 2 minutes to speak, scream, howl, whisper or sing their original poem. There are no props, no costumes, no music: just the poet and the words. Judges are selected at random from the audience.
Guest performer: Jack Vaul
Adelaide-raised rapper Jack Vaul has been writing and performing for more than twenty years. With a style that has been described as thought-provoking and striking in its use of technique, Jack has collaborated with some of South Australia's top hip-hop artists. He is one half of Lowlight Plains, one half of Thorts & Prayrz, a former member of d33p h33t and a former member of The Automenta. As part of various collectives, Jack has sold out shows at the Royal Croquet Club, opened for US producer Lorn, and performed as a part of a livestream event for US indie rap label Fake Four.
