Liverpool Plains Shire Council's official 2026 Australia Day Awards & Citizenship Ceremony will be held on Monday, 26 January 2026 at Club Quirindi, commencing at 10.00am.Our Australia Day Awards & Citizenship Ceremony is a special and significant event for our community, in which we acknowledge the generous efforts and contributions of local individuals and celebrate their achievements through our annual Australia Day Awards, and welcome new citizens to the Liverpool Plains Shire community.
Prominent food journalist, events curator and sustainability advocate, Joanna Savill, has been announced as the Liverpool Plains Shire's 2026 Australia Day Ambassador. Best known as the co-host of The Food Loversβ Guide to Australia TV series, author of the award-winning SBS Eating Guide to Sydney, and long-serving editor of the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide, Ms Savill will deliver the official Australia Day Address at the event.
Recipients of the following Australia Day Awards will be announced at the event:
π Citizen of the Year
π Young Citizen of the Year
π Local Legend Award
π Sportsperson of the Year
π Junior Sportsperson of the Year
π Marie Maunder Community Service Award
π Emergency Services Community Award.
The event will be followed by a light morning tea.
