The now one-year-old New Perennial Movement Sample Garden in the Anderson Sculpture Garden is full of beautiful perennials, thoughtfully designed by ISU alum Austin Eischeid. Join Austin for a lecture followed by a stroll through the garden. Get inspired to garden more like nature with landscape designer Austin Eischeid as he shares what he’s learned from working with naturalistic planting legends like Piet Oudolf, Roy Diblik, and Cassian Schmidt. Austin will show how to use tough, beautiful perennials and grasses to create plantings that look great in every season—and thrive over time. Drawing from real projects (including a redesign of Millennium Park in Chicago), he’ll walk you through design tips like using matrix and block plantings to create flow, color, and structure. You will also get a tour of the new sample garden by Austin in the Anderson Sculpture Garden.Whether you're dreaming up a new garden or rethinking an old one, this talk will give you fresh ideas to bring nature’s rhythm into your own space.
