Die Ausstellung zeigt 70 Poster aus der Sammlung der Triennale “THE 4th BLOCK” aus der Ukraine, die mittlerweile über 10.000 Arbeiten aus 46 Nationen umfasst. Die Internationale ECO Poster Triennale hat sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, aktuelle Probleme im sozialen und ökologischen Kontext zu thematisieren. Kurator der Ausstellung im 1. und 2. Untergeschoss der Contipark Tiefgarage am Andreas-Hofer-Platz ist Illya Pavlov aus der Ukraine. Er ist Grafikdesigner und Lehrender für Kommunikationsdesign an der FH JOANNEUM.Gegründet wurde THE 4th BLOCK von Oleg Veklenko in Folge seiner Erlebnisse als Hilfeleistender nach der nuklearen Katastrophe in Tschernobyl. Die dort von ihm geschaffenen Fotos und Bleistiftzeichnungen waren die Grundlage der ersten Ausstellung bei der DesignerInnen aus 28 verschiedenen Ländern 800 Arbeiten präsentierten. Seither bietet „THE 4th BLOCK“ als Poster-Triennale eine Plattform für Design und Kunst zum Thema Ökologie.

Every three years, the 4th Block exhibition shows the latest trends in poster design and other visual arts. It focuses on designers, printers and artists who are committed to ecology. The most important works in this context are then highlighted in the exhibition.
The aim is to sensitize young people for how ecological problems can be solved through art and design. At the same time, the founder wants to point out the moral obligations that artists have in relation to impending catastrophes.
4th Block was founded by Oleg Veklenko as a result of his experiences as a relief worker after the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl. His photos and pencil drawings of those affected and those who helped were the basis of the first exhibition. Since then, the triennial exhibition has served as a platform for ecological design and art. In recent years, the exhibition has made stops all over the world, for example in London, Istanbul and Berlin. As part of the Design Month 2021, 4th Block is coming to Graz for the first time.
