- Khan can offer a writer’s perspective on weaving human rights and historical justice into mainstream fiction
- Mesley, known for her probing interviews, will likely explore Khan’s journey—from her legal/academic background to her multi-genre writing, and themes surrounding identity, justice, and representation.
Ausma Zehanat Khan
- An American–Canadian novelist with a Ph.D. in international human rights law (specializing in the Balkans)
- Author of the Esa Khattak & Rachel Getty crime series (starting with The Unquiet Dead) and the Khorasan Archives fantasy quartet
- More recently, she launched a new crime series with Blackwater Falls, and Blood Betrayal (2023), which won a Colorado Book Award
Wendy Mesley
- Veteran CBC journalist and broadcaster with decades of experience—from Sunday Report and The National to Undercurrents and CBC News: Disclosure
- Recognized with ACTRA’s John Drainie Award for lifetime achievement in 2006, and retired from CBC in 2021
