As dancers, we always form a deep connection with the Earth. The first thing we learn in a dance class is the Bhoomi Pranaam or Namaskaaram where the dancer pays respect to Mother Earth, for she bears our weight and allows us to tap, leap and caress the floor with our footwork. We begin to realize that we are all her children and like a mother she protects, nourishes, and even punishes if necessary. This production aims to bring out the various moods of nature and Mother Earth and were developed from a deep sense of connection. Evolution happened in her lap. Her breath, touch and every movement is creation. There is dance in everything, there is emotion in every living being. Her gravity binds our being and keeps everything in balance. There is synergy. As the narrative unfolds, it poses crucial questions: What happens when the delicate synergy is disrupted by greed? Who bears the consequences, and how long will it take for us to rediscover our harmonious balance with Mother Earth? Abhayalakshmi, a devoted practitioner of Odissi under the esteemed guidance of Padmasree Guru Aruna Mohanty, infuses her performances with a deep sense of artistry. Her journey, nurtured since the age of 6 from Temple of Fine Arts in Bharatanatyam. Her formal training in Odissi began under the guidance of Guru Sharmila Mukherjee. Abhayalakshmi`s performances, praised both nationally and internationally, have earned her accolades as a Doordarshan, Spicmacay, and ICCR empanelled artist. Beyond the stage, she imparts her wisdom to aspiring dancers and has contributed to numerous collaborative choreography projects. Experience an evening of Odissi that seamlessly blends the elegance of this ancient art form with the raw emotions of nature’s heartfelt abhinaya and leaves the audience with a poignant message, longing for an encore. "Aurvi: Of the Earth" promises an enchanting blend of dance, music, theater, poetry, and art—a complete sensory journey.
