This special song swap features two Austin-based touring artists, plus a couple of hometown heroes. Pat Byrne originally hails from Borris, County Carlow. He was named the first winner of The Voice of Ireland series in 2012, and honestly that is the least impressive thing about him. Since migrating to Texas in 2019, he has become a staple in the Austin music scene and a perennial favorite at Kerrville Folk Fest and 30A Songwriters Festival. With a sound that is somehow gritty-yet-refined and contemporary-but-timeless, Pat is known for his poignant lyrics and emotionally moving performances. He made his peninsula debut last fall to much abuzz, and you won’t want to miss this special opportunity to see him in a most intimate setting.
Eric Bettencourt is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer dually-based in Austin and Portland…no, not that one. The other one. In Maine. Eric is one of those guys that can make a single instrument sound like a whole band. His songwriting has earned him multiple accolades, including New Folk Winner from Kerrville Folk Festival and Best Folk Act from The Portland Phoenix. This is Eric’s first time on the peninsula, so take advantage of this opportunity to get in on the ground floor!
Chris Spillman is a song swap favorite with a seemingly endless range and repertoire. If you haven’t seen him at the swap, you’ve probably seen him playing locally with Black Diamond Junction and Topia Vana, among other awesome projects.
Hosted as always by Hayden Lindsey, who is excited to share a stage with three friends he’s assembled over the years from hither and yon.
