Solo Vernacular Jazz is a wide vocabulary of movements that can be performed solo, within a partnered social dance, or as a part of a choreography. Like Lindy Hop, Vernacular Jazz thrives on the kinetic values of call and response, freedom of movement, personal expression, pulse and groove. Good for new and experienced dancers alike, Solo Jazz 101 will get you becoming more conscious and comfortable in how you move and finding your own personal style.
8:15 — Solo Jazz Choreography - Trickeration (4 week series)
Trickeration is a very fun, zippy line dance (like the Shim Sham or Tranky Doo) choreographed by Queen of Swing, Norma Miller. It’s one of our favorites at CCSwing, and we’re excited to bring this class back! We’ll take a little more time with it and have some supplemental materials to help out this go-round. No experience necessary, but we recommend coming to Solo Jazz 101 if you’re brand new to solo movement - each class will help prep you for that week’s content. Get a preview of Trickeration here!
