This month’s Sketch Meet will be in the Calder neighbourhood at the business corridor on 129Ave between 120 st and 119 st. Something we haven’t done in awhile is sketch inside a neighbourhood. This business corridor has undergone renewal in the last few years and boasts new sidewalks, some new store frontages, boulevard seating and a new mural. It’s a nice mix of old and new business architecture on tree lined streets with heritage and modern homes surrounding. Calder was originally developed in 1910 around the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway which is still in operation by CN as the Walker Railway Yard.We’ll me in front of the Boxcar Coffeshop (11926 129 Ave) at 11 am for a quick chat and then disperse to sketch the area.
At 1pm we’ll meet back at the Box Car Coffeshop to share our sketches, take some photos and have our lunch social.
