This month we're tying a "Crazy Dad", a great fly to wrap up your smallmouth summer. This fly is an easy tie, so they're quick to whip up and won't break your heart if you get hung up on the bottom. Plenty of wiggling and movement with this pattern's materials to make even the most stubborn fish bite! And they're great for a variety of species.
Bring your vise, tools, and materials. If you don’t have everything you need, no worries, materials will be available for purchase on-site at Carolina Mountain Sports. Drinks available for purchase at Wine Maestro next door to bring over to the meetup!

Materials:
Orange and olive coloring work great for this fly. Listed below are materials that you can find at Carolina Mountain Sports, or substitute with similar materials you may already have on hand.
Hook: TMC 200R #4-#8
Thread: 3/0 or 6/0, color to match (brown or rust)
Eyes: silver, bronze dumbbell (hourglass) eyes small-med
Body: options include Sparkle Leech Dubbing, Wapsi Crawdub Whitlock SLF Pattern Blend (brown, rust, orange), Squirrel SLF Spiky Dubbing
Legs: Sili Legs (brown, orange will do)
Wing: Bucktail, kiptail or deer hair
A dubbing spinner is a good tool for this pattern.
As always, substitute materials/sizes/colors however you like, or with whatever you have on hand that still does the trick.
