Synopsis:
Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts gang explore life’s great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes and celebrate the joy of friendship.
Audition and Callback Info:
Auditions will be Wednesday, January 15th from 7-10pm. Walk-ins will be seen in between appointments!
Callbacks will be by invitation only on Saturday, January 18th from 6-10pm.
Auditions and callbacks will be held at Cumberland Players. Doors will open both nights 15-minutes early, please enter through the box office door at the front of the theater!
Tentative Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals will start the first week of February around 2/3. The production team is looking to hold rehearsals Monday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons until tech week.
Final conflicts will be due within the first week of rehearsals so please utilize the conflict sheet in this form to the best of your ability!
Show Dates: April 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13
What to Prepare:
For auditions, the casting team would like to see 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show. Use of our live accompanist is preferred but auditioners can use a pre-recorded track if absolutely necessary. In addition to the audition cut, the casting team will present a few cold readings from the scripts.
Callbacks will consist of more music and readings from the show along with a dance call led by the choreographer.
Character Breakdowns:
The casting team is looking for actors 18+ to fill out the characters in the show.
CHARLIE BROWN: Gentle, loving, insecure. A lovable loser with endless determination and hope, but who often fails due to his insecurities, interference from others, and a permanent case of bad luck. Baritone.
LUCY VAN PELT: The crabby, opinionated, manipulative, self-important older sister to Linus, who bosses Charlie Brown around and perpetually offers arm-chair psychiatric advice for her rate of five cents. Despite her tough exterior, she has moments of compassion, vulnerability, and insight. Mezzo.
LINUS VAN PELT: The thumb-sucking, blanket-dependent younger brother to Lucy - and Charlie Brown's best friend. He is kind-hearted, caring, and incredibly smart. Baritone.
SALLY BROWN: A highly articulate, charismatic, lovable, sometimes annoying and argumentative younger sister to Charlie Brown. Soprano.
SCHROEDER: A friend to Charlie Brown, he is distinguished by his precocious skill at playing the toy piano, as well as by his love of classical music and the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Baritone.
SNOOPY: Charlie Brown’s pet beagle. Snoopy is owned and cared for by Charlie Brown, although at times it is not clear who is in charge. Snoopy is more human-like than dog. He is smart, wise-cracking, and joyous. Tenor/Baritone.
