Synopsis:
This is a story about the iconic and legendary venue in Atlantic City, NJ, known as Steel Pier. It contains both fictional and non-fictional characters and covers the period from 1925 to 1977. This one-of-a-kind, entertainment Showplace hosted such legends as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Duke Ellington, Abbott and Costello, the Supremes, the Rolling Stones and hundreds more.
Audition Details: Sunday, August 24 and Monday, August 25, 2025, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. No appointments required.
Audition Location:
The First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. Green Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Haddon Heights, NJ
Callback Dates: TBA only if needed
Rehearsal Dates: Beginning August 27th. Rehearsals will be held on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday evenings. Tech week rehearsals will be held Sunday through Wednesday evenings of production week (November 2 - 5 with an Industry Opener on November 6th).
Performance Dates (9): November 6, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22 in the evening and November 9 and 16 in the afternoon.
Audition Requirements:
Song: Prepare a song that will showcase your vocal abilities. Cold Reads: Be ready for cold reads from the script. Movement: A dance audition will be conducted, so please wear appropriate footwear A Bluetooth speaker will be provided so please bring tracks for your selection (Please do NOT audition a cappella).We will also have a piano and music director present
Available Roles:
Several actors MUST age throughout the show. Some actors will be required to play numerous roles, and this may require no facial hair, piercings, or visible tattoos.
Older Robert Luke – (age 40-70) (Baritone- Tenor)
Lou Palumbo- Supporting role (age 25-40) General Manager of Steel Pier. He ages throughout show Vocals as ensemble only.
James – supporting role (age 25-35) Afro American who ages throughout the show- sings and dance (tap and/or two step) (Baritone-Tenor)
Young Bobby or Bobbie (boy or girl age 9-13)
Bette (miss America contestant (age 16-22)
Additional parts and ensemble include….. Lou Costello, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Tony Grant, General public/Customers (male and female).
Several Ensemble cast will play various parts Most cast members will be required to sing (no specific vocal ranges) most will be required to dance
