Van Buren Community Players is proud to announce auditions for Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. No experience is necessary. The auditions will be open to children and teens 7 - 18 years old. Please enter through the Van Buren Community Center entrance on the east side of the building at 46425 Tyler Rd, Van Buren Township, MI 48111. We will have two nights of auditions - Monday & Tuesday, March 10 & 11 from 7:00 PM till 9:45 PM. Attendees can arrive beginning at 6:30 PM to sign in and complete the audition form if needed. Auditions will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Both nights will have the same audition process. Attendance either night is acceptable. There will not be callbacks. Picture and resume suggested but not required. The reading audition cuts will be provided at the audition. The audition form and schedule is available at https://www.vanburencommunityplayers.com and will also be available at auditions.
Rehearsals are generally held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (with a few exceptions) at the Van Buren Township Community Center Theater from 6:30 – 8:30PM.
Performances are May 9 -11 & 16 - 18.
Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. Character Breakdown:
Tom Mizer - An idealistic young teacher and the hero of our story
George - An excellent cheerleader for Tom; he has a calming presence, is caring, and in control
Dori - Goofies of the gang; she is silly and playful
Shulie - Sweet and genuine
Joe - A cool kid; he is laid back and fun-loving
Dina - Mature, thoughtful, and grounded
Janet - Best friends with Shulie; she has a big personality
Elvis - The King of Rock and Roll
Ensemble - Featured roles that range from Thomas Jefferson to a doctor to planets
Please note that many roles (as listed) can be cast as either male or female.
All auditions will be in person. There will not be video auditions.
