Jack Kelly and his ragtag team of newsboys make a meager living selling newspapers on the city streets of New York City. But when the prices of “papes” are hiked and the newsies are hung out to dry, there is nothing left to do but “open the gates and seize the day!” Led by charismatic Jack and independent, young newspaper reporter Katherine Plumber, the newsies form a union and organize a strike against the greedy publisher of the New York World. Can a group of idealistic newsboys win against a foe as powerful as acclaimed publisher Joseph Pulitzer?
This production is amateur, and actors are not paid.

Performers must be at least 18 years old at the time of auditions. We recognize that the characters in this show are sometimes younger than this; we will still be casting adults in these roles!
In-Person Audition: Thursday, January 15th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Grand Theatre in Cartersville.
Video Component (submitted with audition form prior to 1/15):
To audition, prepare a 32-bar vocal audition to be sung with an instrumental accompaniment. We encourage you to make a selection from a Broadway show. Do not sing anything from Newsies.
Please also select at least one of the following audition selections to read. You may read for up to three characters as part of your video.

While most roles will dance in this show, it is not required. If you absolutely are not interested in dancing as part of this show, you do not need to attend the audition on 1/15. There will be a place to indicate this preference on the audition form.
If you cannot attend the audition on 1/15, please feel free to provide a reel of your dance experience as a link at the end of your audition form.
Rehearsal: Rehearsals will occur Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm and on Saturdays from 10am-1pm. Not all cast members will be called to every rehearsal. Those with a regular pre-existing conflict (such as a regular lack of ability on one of the three rehearsal days) will still be considered so long as we do not feel that the conflict will hinder the show.
Please note: your ability to attend rehearsal will directly impact the role we're willing to offer. Please be honest on your audition form; not every role will require as many rehearsals. If you miss more than two rehearsals outside of the ones listed on your original audition form, your role will be recast. We understand that different theatre companies operate with varying expectations; these are ours, so we wanted to ensure that you knew them in advance of auditions!
Tech Week (mandatory for those cast): April 13-16th, 6-10pm
Performances: April 17 and 18th, 2026 at 7pm
