Much Ado About Nothing is perhaps Shakespeare’s most loved romantic comedy, in turns witty, hilarious, dark and touching.
This adaptation by the Playhouse Company is set during the Second World War, where a group of servicemen in need of some R&R (romance and recuperation) stay at a country manor house populated by women who have discovered a newfound independence.
We are excited to see your auditions and start putting together the cast. We will have individual auditions with a small panel, and we encourage you to ask any questions. You may be asked to repeat your audition with some direction – don't worry about this, we are keen to see different facets of your talents.
Audition dates will be 10th and 17th June, 7.30pm at the Playhouse, and you just come to one evening. We have audition pieces for each of the roles, so please look at these and have them ready on your phone or printed off. We will have a few printed for those who need them. You are welcome to read for more than one character.

We understand that sticking to Mondays for both auditions has created some limitation on who could attend (apologies! We did try to vary the nights, but this was not possible in the end), and so we are ready to accept video auditions if this is needed. Please get in touch promptly with either Toby or Jaz, or message the company here on fb with any queries. Video auditions will need to be submitted on or before the final audition date of 17th June please.
The show will be staged in the week beginning 3rd February 2025 (planning on including a Saturday matinee) and rehearsal commitment will be from September 2024 – February 2025 (hoping for a good break for Christmas!). Obviously individuals will have holidays in place and a few days they can't make, but we do need a strong commitment from our key characters from the beginning of October until the beginning of February.
Rehearsal nights to be chosen when we have the cast in place.
