The Barn Theatre in Montville, NJ, will be holding auditions for its production of “Misery,” written by William Goldman, based on the novel by Stephen King, and directed by Joe Guadara. Auditions will be on Sunday, September 21st, and Monday, September 22nd, from 7 pm to 10 pm.AUDITIONS: Sunday, September 21st, and Monday September 22nd from 7pm to 10pm
CALLBACKS: Tuesday, September 23rd at 7 pm (by invitation only)
PERFORMANCES: Friday, January 16th, 2026 through Sunday, February 1st, 2026 (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with some possible Thursdays)
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
“Misery” centers around Paul Sheldon, a romance novelist who is kidnapped by his obsessed fan, Annie Wilkes. She demands that Paul write a new 'Misery' novel. As Paul struggles to escape, he realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go. With his life on the line, Paul must write — or face deadly consequences.
CAST REQUIREMENTS: (1 Female, 2 Males, All ethnicities encouraged to audition)
ANNIE WILKES - Female, 30's to 60's. A retired nurse. Strong and sweet but very, very off. Angry, intimidating.
PAUL SHELDON - Male, 30'2-60's. A famous author. Affable, bohemian, resourceful.
BUSTER - Male, late 20's to 70's. A Colorado Sheriff. Smart, polite, suspicious.
All actors must be able to move well. Experience with fight choreography is a plus, but not a requirement.
Sides from the script will be made available at the audition. All roles are available. Casting is open to all adults of any age. Ethnicities, races, and newcomers are especially welcomed.
